FAQ
Top nine 2026: questions, answered
Short answers to the questions that come up every December — no padding.
Is the Instagram top nine official?
No. Instagram does not ship a top nine or a Wrapped. It is a community ritual built with third-party apps or by hand.
How are the nine chosen?
By ranking the posts you published during the year on one metric — likes, saves or comments — counted as they stand when you build the card.
Do I need a Creator or Business account?
Only for the automatic ranking. Instagram exposes per-post counters for those account types; personal accounts do not expose them through the API.
What is the difference with best nine?
Nothing structural: the same nine-post grid. “Best nine” is the older name; “top nine” became the default term.
Which size should I post?
1080 × 1920 for a Story, 1080 × 1350 for the feed. Each tile is 3:4 with a three-pixel gap.
When should I post it?
Between 27 December and the first week of January, while people still say “this year”.
What if a counter is missing?
Show it as unknown. Never as zero: a zero changes the ranking and cannot be detected afterwards.
Does it post for me?
No. Any honest tool exports an image; you publish it yourself.
