How to build an Instagram year in review

A recap is an argument about your year. Three data points and one order are enough to make it readable.

Choose the metric first

Likes, saves or comments. Only one. A recap that mixes metrics cannot be read: the reader stops comparing.

The order matters

Oldest to newest reads as a story. Highest to lowest reads as a ranking. Pick the one that matches the sentence you want to say.

What to leave out

The screenshots, the reposts, the collaborations that are not yours. A recap built from your own published posts is defensible; a collage of borrowed images is not.

The caption that finishes the card

One sentence about the year, one about the metric, one line to say where the rest lives. Three lines, no essay.

How many posts should a recap use?

Nine is the convention; a month-by-month carousel needs twelve.

The app builds this card from your published posts.

Prevz reads your Instagram account (optional, read-only), ranks your nine by likes, saves or comments, and exports a Story at 1080 × 1920 or a Post at 1080 × 1350.
